Craft Festivals and Spring Cards

As excited as I was to have some early warm weather… I’m wishing for it to cool down a bit! Such a warm winter here in NW Florida. Any how… time for craft festivals and spring cards. In fact I've been crafting like a crazy person getting ready for my first craft fest of the year which is next week end. 

So, here is a totally non- wintery card and note book set.  My Wordbirds are perfect for Spring! I love opening the digi image in Photoshop and “filling” their wings and bodies with colors and patterns. I enjoy printing these birdies on an assorted array of papers such as watercolor, cryogen white, and heavy weight card stocks.

Today I’ve printed my digi image on a digital paper called Pure White Gloss (card) and watercolor paper for the post-it note book.

 Pure White Gloss from The PaperTemptress store is the same paper that most of your favorite high end glossy magazines are printed on. I love this text weight glossy paper for printing my birds! My card, post-it note cover and skinny notepad holder  feature Pop Tones in in orange fizz and hot fudge. Gotta love the names of the Pop Tones card stock…yum. 

These projects are very clean and simple, yet the contrasting textures add such a nice touch. I’m enjoying experimenting with all the lovely papers to be found at the PaperTemptress store. You can order most of these specialty papers in very small  quantities if you choose. Isn’t that such a nice way to try them out before investing in a whole pack?!

Just a Note

As excited as I was to begin making Christmas cards a few months ago…. I’m ready to get on to other things!

So, here is a totally non-holiday card.  The birds image started as a doodle a few years ago. My hubby said “You should take that to the computer and play with it.”

Hence Wordbirds were born. I love opening the image in Photoshop and “filling” their wings and bodies with colors and patterns. I enjoy printing these birdies on an assorted array of papers such as watercolor, Cryogen White, and heavy weight card stocks.

My card and post-it note cover also feature Recycled Classic Natural. It has such a richly textured surface and takes a rubber stamp image beautifully.

Green, stripes and a button!

Green, stripes and a button... thats the recipe for this weeks CAS challenge at Outlaws.

Green is my favorite color (if I had to choose just one!) but I don't use stripes very often. I guess I'm always attracted to the oh so popular florals in patterned paper or I like to use solids with embossing.

Buttons... I love buttons so that one was easy! By the way, if you have a JoAnn's craft store in your area, buttons are 50% off this week...whoo hooo! I can't wait to hit that sale. They hardly ever put buttons on sale.  ;D

Yes...every time I see the Just Us Girls acronym I have to grin. Come on , admit it, you do too! I need to find out who is responsible for this talented group's name. Very witty indeed!

If it sounds to you like I'm "kissing up" a little...well you'd be correct. You see...Just Us Girls  has a DT opening and I've decided to throw my paper projects into the proverbial hat.  ;D 

So without further silliness...here is my entry! 

What we have here my friends is a card set containing 5 cards and envelopes; a skinny notepad; and a cute little card using my wordbird digi. I think it will be fun when it comes time to gift this to someone! Who can resist something this frilly/girly?!  ;D

 

Fun stuff:   All card stock is by Gina K.   All patterned paper is by K&Co.   Cream flowers are prima.   Blue and yellow flowers are punched from an EK success punch.   The label stamp used for the notebook is Gina K Designs and the word "notes" added to the center was computer generated. Ink for stamping is Staz On in black.

Playing with my Wordbirds

Good afternoon! Hope your Sunday has been as pleasant as mine! Just church and relaxation....red beans and rice simmering in a big pot on the stove and the kids happy voices ringing through the house as they enjoy the last few hours of play time before getting ready for school tomorrow. Sigh...deep breath...life is sweet! ;D

We are all finally on the mend and feeling better after a tough 3 weeks of assorted tummy viruses and other unpleasant things. I appreciate so much those of you who checked up on me and I wuv you for it! ;D

I have a lot of my Wordbird stuff to get your opinion on in the next few days as well as some fun digital images from Isabellas Sketchbook  that I've really been enjoying playing with the last week or so! I'm so happy the sweet and talented Linda Payne invited me to check them out!

Sorry to get so wordy! Here are some sets I've been working on...

I have been making these sweet little sets. The cards are a set of 5. There is  a junior size notepad and a skinny notepad (which is a junior cut in half...the office supply store will do this for a small fee).

I have seen these covered notepads everywhere in the cyber crafting world (smile) and now that I have begun making them  I can't quit...I'm addicted!!  ;D

I did make my own templates for the note pad covers (I will refine them and share them with you if you'd like!) I wanted pockets in mine and made them a little sturdier than some of the templates I've seen on line. The oval "note" stamps are by Gina K Designs. The dp papers are by DCWV. The Wordbird papers and digi stamps are my own creation.

YUMMY! I just loooove pink and chocolate brown together.

Here we have the card set, the skinny notepad, two styles of post-it note pads and gift bag. The bottom post-it holder is made from a 3 1/2 x 5 acrylic picture frame. So much fun to make! And so quick and easy!

Now for all of my Stamp TV friends... The cool thing is I scanned my favorite Gina K card stock colors and found matching color numbers in photoshop elements. I can now color coordinate my Wordbird doodles and digi papers to my beloved Gina K pure luxury card stock. Yay! 

Speaking of card stock...please use a very heavy weight card stock when making your notepad covers...they make up easier and more accurately and they will hold up longer. The Pure Luxury card stock is 120 lb and just fabulous for 3-D type projects. 

Off to get some pics of the Isabellas Sketchbook projects I spoke of earlier.
